''Waffle'' was a British game show produced by Granada Productions for ITV. It was hosted by Nick Weir as his second game show (after the regional quiz ''On the Ball'') and first national game show. It was aired 24 March–9 June 1998 for forty episodes. It is based on the board game ''Hudson's Rebus'' and has been compared to fellow ITV game show ''Catchphrase''.〔http://ukgameshows.com/ukgs/Waffle〕 Stuart Hall provided voice overs and he himself appeared as a contestant in several episodes. The guests in the first episode were Lisa Riley, then-host of fellow Granada-produced show ''You've Been Framed!'', and Jonathan Kerrigan from ''Casualty''.〔http://explore.bfi.org.uk/4ce2b8119f6c4〕 Other contestants over the run of the series included Claudia Winkleman and ''The Bill'' actor Kevin Lloyd who died in 1998 whilst both shows were still running. He was a contestant in several episodes.〔http://ukgameshows.com/ukgs/Waffle〕 Cheryl Andrews and comedian John Martin also appeared as contestants.〔http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0349044/fullcredits?ref_=tt_ov_st_sm〕 UKGameshows.com were not fans of the series, saying when ''Waffle'' "was broadcast, the highlight of () day was making a point to miss ''Waffle'', a truly awful game show by any standards".〔http://ukgameshows.com/ukgs/Waffle〕 They concluded that "it's hard to work out what's the worst thing about it - whether it's the way that the host has to explain to the contestants what the puzzles mean because they're so badly-constructed, whether it's the way the set is constructed so that the audience can't actually see what's going on, whether it's the not terribly engaging host... no, it's the first one."〔http://ukgameshows.com/ukgs/Waffle〕 Whilst ''Waffle'' was Weir's third stint as game show host, it was his first to air nationally, as prior to ''Waffle'', his pilot for the bingo-based game show ''Lucky Numbers'' (1994) was ultimately unbroadcast and the role of host was given to Shane Richie, and his first transmitted game show, ''On the Ball'' (1997), was only aired in the Granada region. All three game shows were produced by Granada Productions and ''Waffle'' marked his final collaboration with the company, although both of his subsequent game shows, ''Grudge Match'' and ''Catchphrase'', were still produced by ITV franchises. ==Game== The concept behind the game is that contestants identify individual words through rebuses, rather than well-known phrases like ''Catchphrase''. Although there are six rounds, they are similar in game play and UKGameshows.com noted that they are "are all so similar there might as well be two - the beginning and the end."〔http://ukgameshows.com/ukgs/Waffle〕 The prizes on the show are comically cheap and humorous, with the winning prize being a waffle toaster and the consolation prize being waffles themselves. The set features a large rotating "W" in the background, this being the "W" from the ''Waffle'' logo. The audience are seated at either end of the desk that the first round is played on, although it has been noted that with this set up, some the audience appear to have not been able to see the game very clearly. Nick Weir introduces the show as "the show that celebrates the great British art of waffle". 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Waffle (game show)」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
